What To Bring To Your First Conference Venue

If you’re attending a business conference for the first time, you may not know what to bring with you on the day of the event. Here are some supplies that may be handy to bring to your first business event at a conference venue.

Notebook

When attending a conference venue, you’ll probably want to bring a notebook with you to jot down important information. You’ll typically go to classes and meetings throughout the day, and you will want to keep track of what is said. You could learn some beneficial information to take back to the workplace with you.

Pens

Speaking of taking notes, you’ll probably want to bring some pens with you as well. Good luck taking notes without them! Many conference classes will have sign-in sheets, and a pen might be required! Since you’ll be moving around a lot, you may lose or lend a few on the way, so it’s good to bring some extras with you just in case.

Watch

Since conferences usually offer many different classes throughout the day, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the time. Wearing a watch and checking it often ensures that you’ll never miss a class or speech. While a phone works just as well for this, looking at a watch is less distracting than bothering with your phone during a lecture.

Business Cards

You’ll be meeting a lot of people at the conference venue that could be potential clients or business partners. Make a good impression and bring lots of business cards in case someone wants to contact you. Depending on how many people will be at the conference, plan to bring a hundred or more if you expect to be dealing with a big crowd.

Folder

Going to different classes and meetings, you’ll probably obtain some informational sheets, handouts, or other business cards. Bring a folder to store them all for safekeeping. If you don’t have time to look through all of them at once, this gives you the chance to save them for later.
