How to Improve Your Concert-Going Experience

The Ultimate Guide to Improving Your Concert-Going Experience

Are you planning to attend your first concert? Or perhaps you want to get the absolute best experience out of your next show? Maybe you’ve attended several concerts and haven’t quite figured out how to “do it right”. Whatever your reason, at Rocky Mount Event Center, we understand.

As the top concert venue in North Carolina, we want you to have the time of your life when you come to one of our shows. Today, we will give our ultimate how-to guide for having an all-time-great concert experience.

Do a Bit of Research

If you attend a concert where you aren’t very familiar with the artists, you may find you aren’t enjoying it quite as much as the people around you. One of the best aspects of live music is singing along with thousands of people around you. Spend a little time familiarizing yourself with the artist’s music in the weeks before the show. We think you will find that the experience will be much more enjoyable.

Dress for Comfort

While we all want to look great when we go to an event, dressing for comfort is often a better idea. Most experienced concert-goers have made the mistake of wearing uncomfortable footwear to a concert venue. They quickly learn that sneakers are key to staying comfortable. Besides, you will likely end up in a crowd of people where no one can see your shoes anyway. A t-shirt, a pair of shorts, and sneakers are the perfect outfit for an indoor concert venue, because things will likely get hot with all those people. If you are the type to get cold often, bring a hoodie in your bag as a backup.

Bring a Small Bag

That brings us to our next tip. Bringing a small bag to the concert venue is an excellent way to ensure you have what you need. Choose a bag that is small enough to not detract from the experience, but large enough to hold your essentials (phone, keys, tickets, ID, etc).

Arrive Early

While this may be easier said than done, arriving at the concert venue early makes your experience so much better. Most of the “bad” parts of attending a show include things like traffic, parking, and standing in lines. If you arrive early, you can skip the last minute rush that occurs before the show. Parking will be easier, your lines will be shorter, and oftentimes you can get a better spot to watch the show.

Put Your Phone Away

This point cannot be stressed enough — leave your phone in your bag! Sure, take a selfie with your friends or a couple shots of the artist, but too often we see people recording the entire show. You want to experience the concert at its fullest — watching the artist on your phone can be done from home!

Don’t Be Afraid to Make Friends

One of the best ways to make new friends is through common interests. You are going to a concert venue filled with people who share at least one interest — the music. Most people attending a concert are having a great time and are happy to interact with the people around them. Concert buddies make the experience so much better, and they are easy to make!

Relax and Enjoy Yourself

It can be easy to put a lot of pressure on yourself to have a great time, especially if you are going to see one of your favorite artists. Don’t overthink it! Let yourself relax and enjoy the concert. Get swept up in the energy of the crowd and enjoy a night of singing and dancing. Before you know it, you’ll find you’re having the time of your life.
